January is Mentoring Month, and we’re celebrating with stories of Enterprise employees who have grown both personally and professional thanks to the mentors in their lives. Keep reading to find out more about the positive impact of Enterprise’s Formal Mentor Program.
Branch Manager Emma P. began her Enterprise career in 2019 as a Management Trainee, fourteen years after Replacement Rental Sales Manager Paul Y. joined the MT program.
“I took a shot on Enterprise and have been promoted to Management Assistant, Assistant Branch Manager and now Branch Manager,” says Emma. “I wouldn’t change a thing!”
Emma joined the Formal Mentor program knowing the company was full of amazing and successful leaders who could aid in her career progression and help her understand possible career paths.
When paired with Paul, who worked his way up the Daily Rental ladder to Area Manager before joining the Replacement Leisure Division, the duo dove headfirst into the Formal Mentor Program.
“I’ve had outstanding informal mentors who have helped me through challenging career moments,” says Paul. “I hope to push their wisdom forward through the Formal Mentor Program.”
On the flip side, Paul also finds the program to be beneficial to his growth.
“I take away more from the program every year,” says Paul. “Working with employees like Emma is insightful and rewarding, and I enjoy seeing development and growth on behalf of both of us.”
Emma agrees. The highlight of the Formal Mentor Program was experiencing promotions for both herself and Paul during the program.
“It was really cool relating to someone who was going through the interview process at the same time as me,” says Emma. “The end result for both of us was successful—both with our interviews and the mentoring program.”
Paul and Emma encourage employees to participate in local Formal Mentor Programs.
“It’s a risk-free investment into your personal and professional development,” says Paul.
Though the program might only be nine months long, the relationship can persist throughout an employee’s career.
“Mentee/mentor partners have the autonomy to make the program as beneficial – and long-lasting – as they’d like,” says Emma. “Anyone who hasn’t participated should absolutely consider joining the program.”
