Talent Acquisition Specialist

Alexandra J.’s journey at Enterprise Mobility began in 2016 when she joined as a Business Administration Summer Intern with Enterprise Fleet Management (EFM). After graduating with her bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, she eagerly returned to work at the organization as a full-time Title Coordinator. Building on her skills and making great progress, she transitioned to the role of Human Resources Coordinator within just over a year. Alexandra made it her goal to absorb everything about our hiring needs, the recruitment industry, and various talent development areas to challenge herself. With her consistent dedication and hard work, she was promoted to Talent Acquisition Specialist in 2021where she now assists candidates in launching their careers at Enterprise Mobility.

Can you share how your journey with Enterprise Mobility began?
In the summer of 2016, I joined the organization as a Business Administration Intern in the License and Title department. Despite knowing very little about the business initially, we received extensive education and training during the program.

From day one, we learned about the rich culture, founding values, history, and the importance of networking. This experience helped me prepare for my senior year of college and my job search post-graduation. After completing school, I was certain I wanted to return, and I was thrilled to embark on my full-time career with Enterprise Mobility in Fleet Management.

How has networking helped your career progression?
By connecting with team members from different teams at the organization, I was offered opportunities to shadow them during projects and learn more about their roles. Through involvement in various committees and employee groups at Enterprise Mobility, I expanded my network and developed relationships with more individuals.

I joined the MOSAIC team (formerly Outreach CARE), where I actively contributed to planning and participating in charity drives with other team members to provide food, school supplies, and coats to support the local community. This allowed us to uphold Enterprise Mobility's founding value of "strengthening our local communities.”

Could you elaborate on how you shaped your career path through exploring different facets of the business?
I joined another employee resource group that helped build my self-confidence, and it also inspired me to learn more about other women within the organization. My curiosity led me to find out more about Human Resources. As part of an employee resource group assignment, I created a presentation about how to prepare for a promotional interview. This gave me the opportunity to meet with members of the Enterprise Fleet Management Talent Acquisition team. The experience not only increased my understanding of the internal interview process but also facilitated networking with the team I aspired to join. They shared valuable insights and allowed me to present my passion for recruiting. Through these professional connections, I was able to discover the path I wanted to take. When a Human Resources Coordinator position became available, I immediately went to work preparing for it! A great thing about Enterprise Mobility is that our doors are always open, and I’m thankful for the support my supervisor gave me while going through the interview process.

You mentioned “Our Doors are Open,” one of Enterprise Mobility’s Founding Values. How has this influenced your career advancement?
Leaders and team members are always there to give support, no matter where you are in your career.  When I applied for this new role, I met with multiple members of the HR team to ensure I knew the ins and outs of the position. I also wanted to make sure they knew who I was and that I was truly passionate about applying. After going through the internal interview process, I was thrilled to hear that I had gotten the role!

With the support of my supervisor, employee resource group, my colleagues, and team members, I was able to move into my dream career field in HR. When I reflect on my journey so far, two things stand out: the incredible support and the opportunities I’ve received. Enterprise Mobility champions growth, embraces ambition, and helps team members reach their full potential.

As you currently work in your dream role in the Human Resources team, can you share your experience in this department?
Being part of the HR team gives you deep insights into the organization and all the teams and departments that we support. If you’re considering a job in this field, it’s important to be seen as an approachable leader and connector. Your daily tasks will involve recruiting for open positions and conducting phone interviews offering the chance to truly understand individuals.

What are your current priorities, and where do you envision your career progressing from here?
In my current role as a Talent Acquisition Specialist, I oversee recruitment efforts for the first department I worked in, License and Title. It's a full circle moment. Enterprise Mobility has always been a big proponent of promoting from within and career growth. It's exciting to be on the other side, providing opportunities to team members and external job candidates. I’m so thankful to be part of a culture that thrives on success.

I don't know where I'd be without my internship and support networks including team members, leaders, and employee resource groups. Only time will tell, but I can't wait to see where my career journey takes me!
