Enterprise Mobility is supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC)'s One Kilometre at a Time transportation program with a $100,000 grant. The funding will help offer support to Canadians living outside major urban centers who face difficulties when traveling for medical care.
This contribution is the latest in a series of initiatives Enterprise Mobility in Canada has undertaken to support LLSC over the years, such as community grants, walks, fundraisers and volunteerism.
"The program's positive impact on cancer patients' health outcomes is undeniable, and we are excited to support this program so patients can focus on their health without worrying about transportation," said Art Turner, Enterprise Mobility senior vice president of Canadian operations.
The One Kilometre at a Time transportation program offers critical assistance to Canadians who live in remote or rural areas and may experience financial hardship from undergoing cancer treatment. The program supports around 1,000 Canadians each year across every province by providing a one-time, pre-paid Visa card to eligible referred patients – covering expenses such as transportation, accommodations, parking and meals on the road.
"This generous and visionary contribution from Enterprise Mobility will make a significant difference in the lives of blood cancer patients, some of whom have had to miss appointments or stop treatment due to distance from medical care," said Alicia Talarico, president, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. "This partnership will ensure that more Canadians will gain access to blood cancer treatments and care."
