Enterprise Car Club & Translink Announce New Service at Two Belfast Stations

Translink to bring its car club services to Belfast’s Lanyon Place and Great Victoria Street railway stations as part of the commitment by both organizations to provide more sustainable travel options for people.

There will be two low emission car club vehicles based at each station which can be rented by the hour or by the day. These cars add to the existing Car Club fleet based at Enterprise Rent-A-Car branches in Belfast, Omagh and Portadown.

Car Club members can book via an app, online or by phone and then access the vehicle using the app. Enterprise Car Club is the U.K.’s largest car club and members have access to more than 1,500 vehicles located in towns, cities and communities ranging from large cities to rural areas.

"We are delighted to work with Translink to launch this service," Enterprise Car Club Managing Director Dan Gursel said. "There is increasing demand from people for integrated mobility services, which make it easy to move between public and shared transport such as car clubs. This initiative brings that option to residents, businesses and visitors in Belfast. We already have car club vehicles based at or very close to railway stations in England and Scotland and have seen how people integrate rail and car club into travel plans.

"Car Club also helps reduce congestion and improve air quality as each Car Club vehicle takes 20 private cars off the road. We also know that people with their own vehicle find value in using car club for when they need the occasional use of a second vehicle or a car for just part of a journey."

"Translink is committed to deliver a 50per cent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and fully achieve Net Zero by 2040, in line with our Climate Action Pledge and science-based targets," Translink Car Parks & Facilities Manager Wilson Walker said.

"We are pleased to be able to work alongside Enterprise Car Club to deliver this low emission service at two of our key train stations in Belfast city centre, helping to facilitate a reduction in emissions and congestion and an improvement in public health, as well as encouraging more people to use public transport options to get to where they need to be, thus building a better-connected future for everyone."
