What Pride Means to Me
Pride is a celebration, but it’s also a reminder of resilience, community, and how far we have come. As a gay person, Pride means being able to live openly and authentically. It’s about honoring those who fought before us, especially Black and trans activists that sacrificed everything and are the reason I can stand tall and live my life openly and authentically. Pride is also about celebrating love and sharing an experience with the community. It’s when I feel most seen and supported with a sense of belonging. Although it is a celebration, it’s also about acknowledging the work that is still needed to ensure all LGBTQ+ people feel safe, valued, and heard – at work, in public, and at home.

Why I Feel It’s Important to Celebrate Pride
It’s important to celebrate Pride to honor history and celebrate being your authentic self. When we celebrate Pride, we send a message to LGBTQ+ individuals everywhere that they are valid, worthy, and deserving of respect. It’s about coming together with other community members and allies, being open, and proud without fear of judgment or discrimination. Pride is a statement that love is love, and that everyone, no matter their identity or orientation, deserves to live freely and openly.

How I Participate in Local Pride Events
I participate in several local pride events. Participating in these events is a way to honor the history and strength of the community and help foster a more supportive environment for all.

What Allyship Means to Me and My Advice to Allies
Allyship means being an active and supportive partner and educating others. It’s about standing up for the LGBTQ+ community and helping amplify marginalized voices. To those looking to be allies, my advice is simple: Educate yourself on issues facing our community and use your abilities to make a difference. Make it known that you are a safe zone for people around you by demonstrating acceptance and understanding. Being a true ally is an ongoing process, but it’s one of the most powerful ways to help create a world where everyone can thrive.

How Team Members Can Be Encouraged to Bring Their Authentic Selves to Work
It’s important to create a culture of openness, respect, and inclusivity. This begins with leadership setting the tone and demonstrating, through both words and actions, that diversity in all its forms is valued and by ensuring equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of background, gender, or orientation. It is crucial to have visible support systems, such as our employee resource groups, that nurture an environment where differences are celebrated. When team members witness their identities being mirrored and respected in the workplace, they are more inclined to bring their complete, authentic selves to work.
