Volunteering for a cause close to your heart can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life and can lead to personal growth and a sense of purpose. At Enterprise Mobility, team members are encouraged and provided the opportunity to give back to their communities through My Purpose. My Time. (MPMT), a benefit that affords team members a paid day off to volunteer for a charity of their choice. Here, we share three team members who found meaning and achieved personal growth through their volunteer work.

One of these team members is Timothy, who joined Enterprise Mobility as a Management Trainee in July 2022 in St. John's, Newfoundland, and was subsequently promoted to a Management Assistant in July 2023 before being promoted again to Senior Account Specialist with Enterprise Truck Rental in December 2023. For his MPMT volunteer day, Timothy volunteered at the St. John’s SPCA, a society that advocates for the prevention of cruelty to animals. Timothy learned about the MPMT paid volunteer day while researching opportunities at Enterprise Mobility before starting his career.

Timothy's experience at the SPCA entailed walking and running all the dogs, doing enrichment activities with the cats, and helping the staff keep the shelter organized and tidy. Through volunteering, Timothy discovered the positive impact that one volunteer can have and became a permanent volunteer at the shelter. As a volunteer, he has been able to make the community a better place and promote a sense of belonging while increasing his skillset and looking at his community through a different lens.

Not only has Timothy benefited personally from his volunteer work, but he has also inspired and helped other Enterprise Mobility team members. Through his passion for volunteerism, Timothy has organized over 20 MPMT Volunteer Days for his colleagues and aims to organize more, enabling his coworkers to enjoy volunteering and understand the importance and value of helping the community. By volunteering, Timothy has created a culture of actively engaging in volunteerism at his workplace, emphasizing the importance of giving back and creating a positive impact.

Another team member, Bea, is the Group Rental Manager of the New Orleans territory and started her career at Enterprise Mobility twice, in 2004 and 2008, after serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya. For her MPMT Volunteer Day, Bea volunteered with United Way and engaged her team to plan several other volunteer opportunities for Black History Month and in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans. Bea heard the United Way of Southeast Louisiana Board of Trustees' opportunity, where she serves as a member. Volunteering provided Bea opportunities to interact with her colleagues and other members of the community, allowing her to share in laughter, jokes, stories, and camaraderie while working towards a goal. Through volunteering, Bea has established herself as someone who shows up for others in all arenas of her life, fulfilling her desire to participate in activities that help the community at large. Bea has shared her observations with Enterprise Mobility's volunteer partners, who have praised Enterprise Mobility team members for being some of the best volunteers for their exceptional work ethic, dedication, and efficiency at accomplishing tasks.

Clara, a Human Resources Generalist at Enterprise Mobility in Spain, is the epitome of how employees can make a difference through volunteering. She leads by inspiration, encouraging and rallying her colleagues to join her in various initiatives. In her ten-year career with the company, Clara has volunteered several times and partnered with Fundación Ecomar to clean a marsh on the outskirts of Madrid. The project is both productive and memorable and aims to maintain a beautiful spot in the community and preserve the environment. Clara brought her three-year-old son, Artitz, along to set a good example of community service. Through volunteering, Clara instills the values her father taught her from a young age, which include being an environmental steward and helping others. She is grateful for the impact that volunteering has had on her, making her stronger and teaching her to value what's important in life while making the world better.

At Enterprise Mobility, we recognize the important role that volunteering can have in personal and professional growth, and My Purpose. My Time. provides our team members with the opportunity to grow with their community. Through volunteering, team members gain a sense of purpose and belonging while promoting better mental health and well-being, increasing their skillsets, and developing a sense of empathy for others. As employees give back to the community, Enterprise Mobility and its teams create a culture of belonging and goodwill that benefit communities for years to come.
