General Manager Spotlight: Dave S.

General Manager Dave S. with his family in a street

Dave S. was recently named Vice President and General Manager (GM) of San Antonio, Texas. We sat down with him to learn more about his career path with Enterprise and his priorities for his new team.

How did you end up at Enterprise?

After college, I worked for a sales company in Denver. I had a close friend who landed a job at Enterprise as a Management Trainee (MT), moved up quickly, and was always raving about the company. I applied for an MT position in Colorado. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

What steps has your career path taken?

It’s been an exciting journey so far. After starting as an MT in 1996, I worked my way up to Area Rental Manager. In 2008, I moved to Atlanta as a Regional Rental Manager. After two years there, I became Regional Vice President in South Florida and was promoted to Vice President of Rental in 2014.

When did you know you wanted to be a GM?

Throughout my career, and as I took on more senior and progressive roles within the company, my focus was always to work hard, learn as much as possible about the business and to develop others. Thankfully, I work for a company that recognizes and rewards these priorities. When I was an Area Manager, I had an incredible mentor and from that point forward, my career goal was to become a GM.

What are your priorities for your new group?

I am really excited about this next chapter in my career. The first thing I plan to do is listen. I am looking forward to getting to know all of the employees on this team. A key priority and opportunity for me will be to continue to build on the momentum and grow the business.

What do you like to do outside of work?

When I’m not at work, you can find me with my family. I love to golf with my son any chance I can. I am also very busy attending my daughter’s theater and singing performances. We are a family who likes to travel, and we’ve made more trips to Disney than I care to admit. My wife, Rachael, and I enjoy trying new restaurants and love exploring all there is to do around the areas where we have lived.

What is something that people may not know about you?

I played college soccer at Northern Illinois University. Growing up, soccer was a huge part of my life, and I had the opportunity to spend time training in England and absolutely loved it.

Why are you proud to work for Enterprise?

Enterprise is a company that truly cares about its employees and customers. Working at Enterprise has had such a positive impact on my life and I’m so grateful to be part of the team.
