#MyEnterpriseStory: What Keeps Me Here

There I was. Recently graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Hospitality Business, on the hunt for a great career. During college, I was very involved. I was the Vice President of a Hospitality Business student organization and the Resident Assistant in the dorms. I loved being in a close-knit, family atmosphere. I loved being able to grow into leadership positions. I took pride in learning from other great leaders, then giving back and teaching others.

Not too sure what kind of career I wanted, I knew that I had to find a company that offered some similarities to what drove me during college. I wanted a company with a fantastic culture.  I wanted to love my co-workers and be in a positive and fun environment. I wanted to receive promotions and be recognized for my performance.A high school classmate knew that I was on the job hunt and told me that he started as a Management Trainee at Enterprise – the same position that the CEO started in. He told me that he had received multiple promotions within two years, based on performance. He got along with his co-workers, talking about how positive and uplifting everyone was.I was skeptical at first because I didn’t know anything about renting cars, but he explained that the Enterprise Management Trainee role is a training position and that no experience is needed. After doing some of my own research, I applied.

I went through the interview process and talked with many employees. Hearing their stories really inspired me. I was sold on Enterprise.Fast forward: I have been with Enterprise almost six years and have received five promotions. I became a Branch Rental Manager in under two years, and have been in my current role as a Regional Talent Acquisition Specialist for three years. I went from running a multimillion-dollar business, to educating universities and prospective employees about our fantastic promote-from-within culture.Ultimately, what keeps me at Enterprise are the same facets that attracted me to Enterprise in the first place.

I love that Enterprise has a promote-from-within culture. I love that I can get promoted and take on leadership roles, based on merit. I love that even though we are a 100,000-employee company, it doesn’t feel that big. There is a family atmosphere not only at our individual branch locations, but also within our larger operating groups. It’s funny how when you open your mind to new opportunities and dig deep to discover what is important to you, you can find exactly what you are looking for. I am grateful that I was able to find my lifelong career with Enterprise. That is #MyEnterpriseStory: What Keeps Me Here.
