Through an eagerness to grow and a drive to win, Enterprise Fleet Management Senior Account Executive Jen B. has experienced incredible success throughout her Enterprise career. She shared with us how she’s been able to find success even as she faces the new challenges of a virtual working environment and the added responsibility of becoming a working mom.
Jen launched her career as a Management Trainee more than 10 years ago, following a recommendation from her older brother Ronnie, who’s currently a Remarketing Sales and Operations Manager at Enterprise. Since then, she’s served as an Area Sales Manager and now as a Senior Account Executive in Dallas.
Jen’s initiative to find opportunities to grow the business is a hallmark of her career, and she credits her success to following a specific process.
“When it comes to controlling sales with our Fleet customers, I’ve found that being diligent and staying highly focused on what I know will help me be successful is critical with each new opportunity,” she says. “It’s important to not be afraid to have tough conversations with key decision makers and be unapologetic about what you know is going to make each partnership successful.”
Navigating a new environment
For Jen, this year has presented some new obstacles as she transitioned to the virtual working environment only a few short weeks after returning to work from maternity leave. But through support from her colleagues and family, she’s continued to shine. Jen is also not afraid to speak up when she has an idea that could make things better for everyone on the team – she recently helped update a policy to provide additional flexibility to sales employees going on and returning from qualified leaves.
“In the past, I thought I had to choose between career and family,” she says. “But one of my mentors, Michelle Kay, who is now Vice President and General Manager in Kansas City, has been a huge role model for me and proven it’s possible. Her ability to navigate her personal and professional life is so inspiring to me as I take on this new role as a working mom.”
While working from home, Jen and her husband work together to coordinate their schedules and ensure their son, Liam, is taken care of in between naps and meetings. Jen shares sound advice for other moms and employees across the organization looking to achieve success and balance.
“To successfully juggle responsibilities, especially in this virtual environment, compartmentalizing time is key,” she says. “This means being diligent with the time we have delegated to work and using it wisely. But, it’s also just as important to make sure you carve out time to step away from work and tend to your other obligations.”
