In my role as Talent Acquisition Specialist, I get the opportunity to interview many candidates. I’m always thrilled when I am asked, “What can I do to make myself stand out?” This question shows me that the candidate is already thinking about the next step in their career at Enterprise.

For me personally, a lot of the skills that helped me truly stand out professionally were built during the time I spent working at Boston Logan Airport. Keep reading to find out how my experience helped me prepare for future success.

I learned to work with high volumes of customers.

It’s no surprise that our airport operations are some of our busiest locations at Enterprise. In the neighborhood branches where I started, a busy day meant 100 reservations – but at the airport, my team was helping upwards of 3,000 customers each day.

From high-volume technology to a streamlined rental process, I learned so much about improving the customer experience.

I quickly became an expert in customer relationships, operational process, fleet management, and sales, and I learned to adapt this expertise to an incredibly fast-paced, large-scale environment. Experiencing success at this scale gave me the confidence to know that I had what it took to manage any market, regardless of size.

I gained experience with three different brands.

As a brand-new Management Trainee, I gained valuable, hands-on experience working within one of our local Enterprise branches, right where the Enterprise story first began. I learned the ins and outs of the business while working alongside my team and engaged in the strategies that make our family-owned business a success.

When I was given the opportunity to work at the airport, I dove deeper into the Enterprise Holdings portfolio of brands, specifically Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental. I challenged myself to strategize, manage, and grow these other brands, and understand how they differ from one another.

Having this in-depth experience within our three distinct brands strengthened my overall business acumen.

I grew my network and met valuable mentors.

Networking and mentorship opportunities exist within all Enterprise operations, but a greater number of employees are concentrated at airport locations. At the airport, I learned from a team of hundreds of people who challenged and motivated me, could speak to my growth and successes, and helped me achieve my goals.

When I began to prepare for promotion opportunities, I had ready-made sponsors available to comment on my performance, effort, and overall personal brand. I was careful to consistently take advantage of networking opportunities and strove to always make a good impression, which was crucial to my development.

My experience at Boston Logan Airport shaped me into the professional that I am today, so I encourage all candidates to keep an open mind when considering where their career may take them. You never know what you will learn if you are open to taking on new challenges.
